Isuzu Rodeo
There's an old maxim that states, "Stick to what you know best", and Isuzu did
just that. This Japanese car and truck maker has established a reputation for
producing top quality engines and reliable vehicle shells. Realizing the steady
decline in the demand for subcompact cars, Isuzu decided to gun it out with their
best arsenal, producing and assembling sport utility vehicles, compact pickups,
and commercial trucks.
The Isuzu Rodeo made its first appearance in 1990. Even though it is a vaguely
smaller and less pricey than the Trooper, it offers almost the same luxury as
well as good riding and handling. The Rodeo was specifically designed to be built
and sold in the Americas with a considerable domestic content of parts and labor.
In the past five years it has been incessantly enhanced and upgraded, and has
been one of the largest selling import nameplate Sport Utility Vehicles in the
nation.
The Rodeo is assembled in its joint venture Isuzu-Subaru plant in Lafayette,
Indiana. Sport Utility Vehicles has been very popular nowadays and the struggle
for a bigger piece of the market share has been very competitive. With the Rodeo,
Isuzu has hit the nail in the head and it is expected to improve further more
and top its class in the years to come.
