1993 Isuzu Rodeo

The 1993 Isuzu Rodeo once again had minor changes in its design, but a new more
powerful engine was installed this year. Isuzu felt that to compete in the fierce
world of Sport Utility Vehicle division you have to have the same or bigger output
of power as the very popular American trucks. They powered up the Rodeos and made
the base entry a bit more enticing. The Rodeo is now truly an American vehicle
with an Asian tag price.
The 1993 Isuzu Rodeo borrowed from the Trooper, a new 3.2-liter 175 horsepower
V6 which replaced the prior GM V6 engine it was using as an option for the Top
trim model it was utilizing the year before. The 3.2-liter engine is now standard
on the midrange XS and top-line LS, as well as the base S model when equipped
with 4WD. The shell of the Rodeo still remained as this is only the third model
of its kind. The acceleration is sufficient but less than brisk with the earlier
V6 and automatic. The 3.2-liter V6, made available in 1993, is an improvement
in terms of smoothness and quietness. That V6 works well with automatic, which
changes gears smoothly and downshifts promptly for passing.
