Isuzu Rodeo Trailer Hitch
A trailer hitch is added to the Isuzu Rodeo to enable it to tow a trailer, a
jet ski or anything that needs to be hauled. In doing so, you expand the capabilities
and the usefulness of the Isuzu Rodeo. The key to choosing the right hitch is
determining your vehicle's maximum towing capacity, which can be found in the
owner's manual. You also need to know the gross trailer weight (GTW) and tongue
weight (TW) of the trailer you'll be towing. Obviously, you should never tow a
trailer that surpasses your vehicle's towing capacity.
If you're going to be towing a relatively lightweight trailer, you can use a
weight-carrying hitch. They're usually good for trailers with up to 3,500 pounds
of gross trailer weight and 300 pounds of tongue weight. The other alternative
is a weight-distributing hitch. It does more than simply hold up the trailer's
tongue weight. It literally distributes that weight, using leverage, to all of
the tow vehicle's and trailer's axles. This allows you to tow a trailer with a
greater tongue weight, plus it bestows numerous safety gains. Even heavy-duty
hitches often can be installed without drilling on many cars, trucks, vans and
SUVs, so a hitch is not a lifetime commitment. Some companies even offer replacement
bumpers for trucks and SUVs that are designed to accommodate a ball hitch.
